Crop Risk Score

Overview
#

Crop Risk Score summarizes multiple stress signals into a clear, comparable indicator for each field.
The score highlights where conditions are trending unfavorably so agronomists, insurers, lenders, and buyers can intervene early and prioritize site visits.

What the score reflects
#

  • Vegetation condition — consistency and level of greenness over time (satellite time series).
  • Weather exposure — heat, cold, drought, and excess rainfall anomalies during critical stages.
  • Season timing — deviations from expected sowing, emergence, flowering, and harvest windows.
  • Field context — multi‑year behavior of the same parcel (stability vs. recurring stress).

Output is provided as Low / Medium / High risk (and, optionally, a 0–100 score) with the current status and recent trend.

What you get
#

  • Field‑level risk layer suitable for web maps and dashboards.
  • Weekly updates through the growing season.
  • Parcel summaries with the latest score, 4‑week trend, and short note on dominant drivers (e.g., “persistent water deficit”).
  • Regional roll‑ups for monitoring programs and portfolio views.

Uses
#

  • Insurance: triage claims, focus verification on high‑risk parcels, and track event footprints.
  • Lending & input credit: portfolio monitoring and early‑warning on borrowers’ fields.
  • Procurement & logistics: estimate shortfalls and redirect sourcing before harvest.
  • Advisory services: prioritize extension visits and tailor recommendations by risk level.

Delivery
#

  • Formats: GeoJSON/CSV per parcel; raster tiles for maps.
  • Cadence: weekly during season; monthly off‑season (configurable).
  • Integration: simple IDs for joining with your parcel registry.

Notes
#

  • Scores are comparable within a region and crop where the same configuration is applied.
  • Historical baselines and calendars should be reviewed when adopting the product in a new area.
